LAKE GEORGE — Officials are looking at a May 2015 groundbreaking for the Route 9 Gateway Project that will transform the corridor from Northway Exit 21 to West Brook Road that leads into the village from the south.
The schedule now places the start of construction in spring 2015 and completion in fall 2016. The project is expected to go out to bid this winter, and construction, which would take 10-12 months, will mostly be completed during the shoulder seasons.
“We’re definitely leaning toward starting in the spring of 2015. We haven’t ironed out exactly what the schedule is going to be, but I’m pretty sure we’re on board for two years, which is four shoulder seasons,” said town Planning and Zoning Director Keith Oborne. “We won’t necessarily shut down during the high seasons between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but we’ll significantly slow down to reduce any impact on property owners. We want to manage expectations. There’s still going to be some disruption during those seasons, but we want to minimize that.”
